Gratitude Day 41 - Dinner

Dear Friends,
I miss dining out! It was a blessing worth elaborating on, and I overlooked it!
Last night, as I was walking home, two bags of groceries hanging on each arm, I started philosophising about food! I think our taste buds are the most evolved and capricious of all our senses. The amount of time and energy we spend putting food on the table or on our lap is incomparable to the amount of time it takes to clear the plate!
It all starts with what my appetite fancies for dinner, followed by a long train of complicated questions such as: Where to shop? What ingredients to buy? Is it organic or “synthetic?” Shall I buy enough for one meal or two? Where the chickens running wild or were they oppressed? Is it nutritious enough? How many calories? How long will it take to cook? Can I freeze the leftover? Shall I freeze the leftover? Shall I take the leftover to work for lunch or shall I eat it for dinner again? Shall I reheat it in the pot? Shall I reheat it in the microwave? Is my container made of plastic or glass?
As if answering all these questions in the pouring rain was not taxing enough, I also needed to pair my food with the right drink!
So much ambivalence, time, energy, effort! If only we could operate on two tablets and a gel capsule a meal!
In the meantime, I am revising my eating habits, developing much gratitude for my neighbourhood; the restaurant, take-out, and delivery paradise!
Have an effortless day everyone!
