Gratitude Day 1 - Gratitude

Dear Friends,
Last night I arrived home from New York. Although it was a smooth trip, it was not a happy visit. All the people whom I love very much have issues and worries. As I stood there in the middle of my living room powerless, and desperate to find something to hang on to, to lift my spirits, I realised that for once my plane had landed on time and I still had a few hours before going to bed and setting the alarm for the following workday. Somewhere deep inside me, I felt some warmth. All of a sudden I took notice of the fact that I was happy to have landed safely, that I liked my surroundings and that I was looking forward to meeting up with friends later in the week and taking up my life once again. My worries about my family members in New York didn’t diminish, but somehow its grip on my heart weakened.
Later that night, when I turned on the TV, there it was on The Agenda with Steve Paikin, the topic of “gratitude.” It's a sign!  I said to myself. So, I made sure I listened to everything the Imam, the Professor, the Spiritual and the Young had to say. Apparently things can always be worse, and the fact that they are not, is cause for celebration. This morning, on the way to school I had an idea. I get a lot of those, lately! I thought I start a "Gratitude Log" and hope my friends at work would follow suite, so we can have our own and each others Grateful Energy flowing. Nothing too earth shattering, just little things that we most often neglect to appreciate. This morning I am grateful for Curriculum Night being over, for the weather being nice, so I can walk to work comfortably, and for the fact that I have packed a healthy lunch.
What are your three blessings of the day?
Have a celebratory day everyone!
