Dear Friends,
My "Mama" is in town (Day 2!) For the next few days, my sister will be very grateful! I took "Mama" off her hands for a week and called it her Christmas present! Unfortunately, unlike so many of you, my siblings and I were not always encouraged to be who we were. Even to this day, we are being, sometimes diplomatically, sometimes not so diplomatically, shamed into what we have become. Thus, when "Mama" comes to North America, she turns into a hot potato! We keep passing her to one another, of course always very diplomatically. Neither of us can or wants to hold her for too long. You wonder, with this attitude, how can I be grateful this week, with "Mama" being in Toronto? Well, let me count the ways! I'm very grateful that she decided to continue living in France after my father passed away. I'm grateful that she is financially independent and mobile, with all her faculties intact (one too many, if you ask me!) I'm grateful that she applied for, and obtained an American passport, not a Canadian. Most importantly, I'm grateful to her for always having been an amazing grandmother to my children. My mother and my sons, especially the one who lives in Toronto, love spending time together. It seems that after all they didn't need the "middle woman" to build and enjoy a solid, loving relationship. And I'm so very, very grateful for that!
Have a stress-free day everyone!
