Did you know that “dance” has “psychology?”
I could see it having “philosophy," but not psychology!
I’m very grateful to a certain Dr. Lovatt for shedding some
light on my inability to follow instructions, recipes and dance steps!

Dr. Peter Lovatt, lecturer and reader of the psychology of dance
at theUniversity of Hertfordshire , maintains
that structured movements
(knowing what step comes next) speeds up convergent problem-solving
skills. Improvisation (not knowing what step comes next – that’s me!)
enhances divergent problem-solving skills!

Obviously, it’s the whole concept of “structure” that I don’t take well to.
I’m not unskilled - I’m an improviser; a divergent problem solver!
I should show this article to my Sunday belly dance instructor who every
few minutes yells across the studio: “Lili, stay with me!”
"Can't!" I shall yell back next time, "I'm busy diverging!"

Have a creative day everyone!
